Week....7?? 8?? wait...what?

Well it IS the end of week 8.... I didn't post anything last week only cause there was nothing really to write about... I have been finding it very difficult to lose weight. I honestly didn't think it would be this hard. I assumed with exercise and no more junk food I would start losing weight real quickly.

So the past week I have really been watching what I eat and planning my meals ahead of time. As well, I have been drinking more water and wouldn't you know it I have lost a pound this week! This whole experience has been slow steps and lots of learning on how to eat more properly. I am such a huge snacker....especially when I am sitting around. That has been the hardest part is no more mindless snacking and not eating after 7pm.

I got the call that my wedding dress is in and will be going to try it on tomorrow! So excited and nervous! I don't remember what size I ordered it in and I hope it will fit! Will talk about that experience in next weeks post.

Easy Fruit Smoothie

So along with working out I am trying to eat more healthy. I have decided to start adding a few recipe/snack ideas to my blog. First up is a easy healthy fruit smoothie! This smoothie includes your fruit and dairy serving as well as the awesome benefits of flax seed which is a source of Omega-3 fatty acids and fibre.

Ingredients needed:
1) Frozen Berries
2) Fat Free Yogurt
3) Ground Flax Seed
4) Orange Juice

Get your blender out and ready and add your first ingredient which is the frozen berries. I use frozen berries because it eliminates the need to add ice and it is readily available so you just add as much or as little as you want! No prep or cutting needed.

Next add the fat free yogurt. I use the individual cups of yogurt. They come in many different flavors so use your favourite kind!

After the yogurt I add 2 Tbsp of the ground flax seed. This ingredient doesn't change the taste or texture of the smoothie and it adds omega-3 fatty acids and fibre to your smoothie. (I also add ground flax seed to other meals I prepare like in chili)

Now it is time to add the orange juice. You can add as much or as little OJ as needed. It all depends how you want the consistency of your smoothie to be. You can add a little for a thicker smoother or a lot for a thinner smoothie. I add the OJ till it covers all the ingredients.

Now blend all the ingredients together! Time depends on the type and speed of your blender.

Now enjoy your smoothie! You can customise this to your own taste by changing up the type of frozen berries you use and the flavour of yogurt.

Yum!

Week 6

It sure does seem like the weeks are passing by very quickly and I am having no luck with getting into shape. I have amped up my workout this week. In between the days I workout on the x-box I have began to use my elliptical for 20-30min. I am really trying hard to keep working out a part of my life, but some days it feels like such a drag! Between taking care of the kids, keeping up the household, and trying to find time for myself, working out feels like a chore some days. How do people keep motivated and have time for working out?  Ugg I am frustrated with all this as you can tell. Yup that's right...still no change..I have been sitting at the same weight and no inches lost for the past few weeks.

Well no point in complaining about it. All I can do is keep at it and maybe modify my diet some more. I LOVE carbs and all there goodness! Bread and pasta and my number one culprit! So I am thinking about limiting my carb intake to 1-2 servings a day. I think I am also gonna make a chart of the food groups to keep track of what I am eating...(Is this starting to sound like an eating disorder forming??) I don't think so.

Another issue that has arrised is when my fiance is home and goes grocery shopping he buys all the foods I don't want to eat like bags of chips and pop. He is only home for  a week and leaves all this food behind and it is sooo tempting to want to eat it!! It has come to the point where I have to throw out the half eaten bags of chips left behind from him and keep the pop out of sight or else I will want it!!!!!!!!! It is so frustrating that he brings this stuff home when I am trying to lose weight and he is sitting there eating a bag of chips and he says he lost 5lbs......like are your F#$&ING KIDDING ME!!

Ok This blog is turning into an angry hot mess... I will keep on truckin along and PRAY next week will be better.

Review of the First Month..

Well it is the beginning of April and a month has gone by since I have started this weight loss challenge. I didn't post last week because it was a crazy busy week and I didn't get to work out as much as I would have liked. Between driving to the airport twice, having guests over, and spring cleaning working out went to the back burner. This week I started getting back into the routine of things. After working out after a week off I sure felt the pain again! Good news is my ankles and shins are no longer in excruciating pain during workouts.

Time to review the past month... Total weight loss is just 2 pounds. Not the exact results I wanted from a month of working out every 2 days. I have also lost an inch of my waist, hips and around my tummy. When I look into the mirror I dont exactly see any results. I do however feel stronger and have more energy. For this next upcoming month I am thinking about kicking up the pace and maybe working out 5-6 time a week instead of 3-4 times. I'm hoping I will get to see faster results by doing this. Summer is coming around the corner and so is my wedding, so I really am hoping to drop this weight!!!!!!

I don't want to just stop working out which is how I feel some days. I am trying to stay motivated in that a few months I can start seeing some real results! I've got to stick to the plan and keep eating healthy and remeber this isn't just about looks, it's about making a lifestyle change!
